And start in Basel! Everything is pushing for sustainability. A look into the future from Basel at the Sustainability Days.
to protect the climate, the European Court of Human Rights has just ruled.
This is a verdict that cannot be said of the Sustainability Days. The comments from exhibitors and visitors are too positive. One of the exhibitors comments: ‘Here you meet people you wouldn’t otherwise meet. We find them, they find us.’
‘If we want to become sustainable, innovation is needed. That’s why we are in the right place here,’ said Annalise Eggimann, Director of Innosuisse.
The Brand Manager of the Sustainability Days, Julien Rousseau (right), agreed. His conclusion: ’At the Sustainability Days, we learned the importance of sustainability. But: Switzerland should play a bigger role in advancing the topic.’
But there were many answers at the Sustainability Days, and they were all right. For example, from Anders Stokholm, Mayor of Frauenfeld and President of the Swiss Association of Cities: ‘The catalyst for faster progress in climate protection is digitalisation.’
There is certainly awareness of the issue in industry and business, even if it is not networked among the individual sectors and even if many things are not yet working. During the panel discussions, for example, pooling was mentioned – ‘people don’t want to drive together’ – or the switch to public transport in Germany.
But Judith Häberli, Urban Connect, gave a motivating vision in the ‘Corporate Mobility in Transition’ section, a kind of guide to action: ‘Change Mobility – Change the World’.
‘Together we can do it, together we can achieve it,’ said another speaker.
If the Sustainability Days didn’t exist, they would have to be invented.
